Peter Brookes, a trained Social Worker and front line manager, specialises in the area of community consultation, engagement and participation, having completed his MBA dissertation on service user involvement in a rural setting.

Peter is inspired by change architectures that can make a real difference to connectivity in communities. He founded Trimdon 2000 in his home community as a means of exploring how people can take more control over their own lives. Community development and empowerment underpin his preferred modus operandi.

Peter is particularly interested in adopting a 'whole systems approach' to engagement where the involvement and participation of local citizens in the life of their communities is achieved by active participation in the policy and planning process by 'everyone on the pitch playing rather than in the stands watching'.

Peter was the Head of Community Services with Durham County Council. He was responsible for 4 distinctive areas of activity - Community Development, Crime and Community Safety, Welfare Rights and Travellers Liaison as well as input to key corporate policy initiatives including Equalities and Change Management.

Peter also had the lead responsibility for relationships with the Voluntary and Community Sectors.

Christine Brookes is a former social worker with Hartlepool Borough Council providing support to vulnerable children and adults as part of the duty team. She has a 2:1 degree in Economics, a CQSW (Social Work qualification), a Private Secretary's Diploma, which includes typing speed attainments, and I.T. skills covering word processing, databases and spreadsheets.

Christine believes that contentment is a goal that individuals should strive for and the responsibility for gaining this outcome lies not only within themselves, but also through their actions amongst their families, local communities and wider environment. Respect for all should be high on the agenda. Christine thinks the Cedar Partnership can help to promote this idea for all concerned.

Christine will be providing office management and support to the Cedar Partnership as well as offering Peter sound advice and counsel!
